Drielandenpunt Trail 2027: new courses, new distances and a new two-day event

Three countries. Two days. Completely new courses. The Drielandenpunt Trail returns to Vaals on 30 and 31 January 2027 and is getting a major makeover for the new edition.

And flat terrain? Don't expect that here. 

The Drielandenpunt Trail is the trail in the Netherlands with the most elevation gain. 

Starting from the highest point in the Netherlands, a challenging course through the unique border region of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany awaits you.

Registration for the Drielandenpunt Trail 2027 opens on Monday 21 September.

New courses, new distances

For 2027, we are designing new courses through the unique border area around the Drielandenpunt. From Vaals, trailers will once again head through the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

The range of distances is also being completely renewed.

Six distances, spread over two days and with courses that let you discover a different part of the region each time.

Brand new: the Drielanden Challenges

One trail not enough? Then we have something new for 2027.

For the first time, we are introducing the Drielanden 45 Challenge and the Drielanden 60 Challenge.

The concept is simple: run on Saturday and Sunday, across two completely different courses, and compete for the overall Challenge ranking.

Drielanden 45 Challenge

17 km on Saturday + 27 km on Sunday = approximately 45 kilometres of trail fun.

Drielanden 60 Challenge
17 km on Saturday + 42 km on Sunday = approximately 60 kilometres over two days.

So you won't be doing a second lap of the same course. You'll run two different races, over two different routes, spread across one weekend. The results of both days together form the overall Challenge ranking.

Three countries in one trail weekend

What makes the Drielandenpunt Trail special remains, of course: the unique location and the tough elevation profile.

From Vaals, you literally run across borders and discover the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany in one trail weekend. Tough climbs, technical passages, fast forest paths and constantly changing landscapes make the Drielandenpunt a special trail area.

In 2027, you will have even more opportunities to discover that area.
